WHO chief warns against the surge in covid-19 infection

Dr. Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, World Health Organisation’s chief, stated that another new wave of the virus has indicated that the pandemic is nowhere near over. He added that as the virus is pushing at us, we must push back with important precautions and measures to control the surge in the cases. 

The WHO′s emergency committee on Covid-19 held a meeting on Friday to determine whether the pandemic is still a public health emergency of international concern -- the highest alarm the WHO can sound. Meanwhile, in India, 16,906 new coronavirus infection cases were logged on Date, pushing the total tally of COVID-19 cases to 4,36,69,850. As per the health bulletin released by the Union Health Ministry on Date, 199.12 crore doses of the COVID vaccine have been administered across the nation as a part of the Covid-19 vaccination drive. 

According to official sources, the National Technical Advisory Group on Immunization has held multiple meetings to review pediatric vaccination statistics after the Drug Controller General of India authorized the use of Corbevax, manufactured by Biological E, for children 5 to 12 years old, and Covaxin, manufactured by Bharat Biotech, for children 6 to 12 years old.
